This past Saturday, the sky did the one thing coaches never want in the middle of a new system going live.

It opened up right before our day began.

Six weeks ago we told you we were moving off our old signup system and onto a new one. New programs and classes, new registration, a new app on your phone. We knew it would be clunky for a while, and it was. Thank you for sticking with it through the glitches, the double emails, and the "what level is my child?" texts to our coaches.

This past Saturday is why we did it.

Rain started rolling in about midnight before our full day of classes. In the old system, that meant coaches on the phone, one family at a time, hoping we reached everyone before they left the house. This time, one tap sent every family in every affected class a notice on their phone. Class canceled. Credits put back into your account. See you next week. Done.

Nobody drove out in the rain for nothing. That's the whole point of switching systems, and this past Saturday it worked exactly the way we hoped it would.

If you haven't set up your family's account on the new app yet, now's the time. It's where you'll see schedules, cancellations, and anything else that changes about your child's class.

GOLF AND PICKLEBALL, SAME AFTERNOON

Tiny Tees and TTC Pickleball Program

We've been building something with our friends at TTC Pickleball, and it's almost ready. One after school program, two sports, same group of kids.

We put together a short video walking through what it looks like.

Watch it here: Short

Kids get golf instruction from our coaches, then pickleball instruction the same afternoon. Different skills, same idea: move, try, laugh, reset, try again. Space is limited, so if this sounds like your family, don't wait too long to grab a spot.

MORE TOURNAMENTS ARE COMING

Our End of Summer Golf Tournament brought out more families than we expected, and a lot of you asked when the next one would be.

So we built out a schedule. We're running a tournament every month for the rest of the year, and the first one is built around Halloween.

Stay Tuned for Registration Information

Chip or Treat Golf Tournament. Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. October 31.

Tee times and registration are coming soon. We'll send the link the moment it's live. In the meantime, start rounding up the friends and cousins you want on your team, because this one is built for a crowd.

WHY WE HOLD OUR POSE

I ask the kids this almost every week. A child finishes a swing, holds still, weight forward, club up, and I ask, "Why do we hold our pose?"

They already know the answer.

"For ESPN."

We laugh about it every time. That's the joke we tell them, that they're holding still because the cameras are rolling, because their parents want a good picture. The parents laugh too, because we all know who the picture is really for.

But here's the part many don’t understand…holding your pose isn't really about the swing. It's about staying inside what you did before you go looking for what you got. Don't sprint after the result before you've stood in the effort for one second. Don't let a miss pull you apart before you've finished what you started. Don't let a good shot trick you into thinking the outcome was the only thing that mattered.

A kid who practices that on a golf course starts doing it everywhere else. After a hard test. After an apology that didn't land the way they hoped. After a tryout. After the moment when they don't yet know how it turned out.

Next time your child finishes something, whether it's a swing, a school project, or a tough conversation, watch what they do in the three seconds right after. Do they collapse toward the result, or do they stand there for a second first?

That pause is the whole lesson. We just happen to teach it with a golf club.
