Play badly. Laugh loudly.
Our End-of-Summer Tournament is two weeks out, and we want to be clear about something before you decide whether you belong there.
You do not have to be good at golf.
Some of you play every weekend. Some of you took your first lesson last week specifically because you heard about this tournament. Both of you are exactly who this is for. This is not the day to go find your best score. It's a nine-hole evening with your kid, and the only thing we're actually asking of you is that you enjoy it out loud.
Hit a great shot? Celebrate it. Get lucky? Celebrate that too — the ball doesn't know the difference and neither does your five-year-old. Chunk one twenty yards? Laugh. Laugh where they can hear you.
That's the whole lesson, and it's a bigger one than it sounds.
Kids are watching how the adults they love handle being bad at something in public. If you tighten up, go quiet, and get frustrated over a missed shot, they learn that golf is a test you can fail. If you shank it and laugh, they learn something far more useful: that a game is a game, that you can be a beginner in front of people, and that the point of playing is the person standing next to you.
We spend all summer teaching your kids that. On August 29, you get to teach it back to them in one evening.
End-of-Summer Golf Tournament Saturday, August 29 · 5:00–7:00 PM Hyatt Regency Newport Beach — Back Bay Golf Course Teams of two: one adult, one Tiny Tee. Nine holes. All skill levels. Prizes.
Only 36 teams. Once they're gone, they're gone.
And bring your people. Your child does not need to have attended Tiny Tees camp to play — grandparents, cousins, neighbors, your kid's best friend and their dad. Everyone's welcome. Spectators too.

Coach Ashley was back this weekend

A treat for our Newport families: Coach Ashley made the trip in from Palm Springs and spent the weekend with us on classes and private lessons.
If you caught one of her sessions, you know why we're glad to have her.
One ask, for the homeschool families
We're hearing from more and more homeschool families looking for a real PE option, and we're already working with a couple of co-ops in the area to bring Tiny Tees to their kids.
If you homeschool, or you know a family or co-op that does, we'd love to talk. Structured movement, character work, small groups, and a sport they can play for the next seventy years.
Just hit reply to this email ([email protected]) and tell us about your group. That's it.
See you at the course.
